Position Overview:

An innovative advanced nuclear technology company is seeking a VP of Nuclear Engineering to lead its nuclear engineering organization during a critical stage of growth. Reporting to the executive team, this individual will define the company's technical strategy, build and scale a world-class engineering organization, and oversee the development of next-generation reactor technology from design through commercialization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the company's nuclear engineering strategy and technical execution.
  • Build, develop, and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Drive reactor design, engineering, testing, and commercialization efforts.
  • Establish engineering processes, technical standards, and design review practices.
  • Partner with executive leadership to align technical priorities with business objectives.
  • Collaborate across Licensing, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, and Program Management to ensure successful product development.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related discipline (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).
  • 10+ years of engineering leadership experience within the nuclear industry.
  • Proven experience building and scaling engineering teams.
  • Strong expertise in thermal hydraulics.
  • Strong knowledge of reactor physics.
  • Experience leading complex engineering programs from concept through commercialization.
  • Excellent leadership and cross-functional communication skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with advanced reactor technologies (SMRs, microreactors, Gen IV, molten salt, sodium-cooled, or high-temperature gas reactors).
  • Experience supporting NRC licensing activities.
  • Familiarity with nuclear safety analysis, systems engineering, and PLM tools.
